
Dr Sarah Cant, head of policy and campaigns at the Prostate Cancer Charity, used prostate cancer as an example and pointed out that many people do not know what the symptoms of the condition are.
Furthermore, there is a general lack of knowledge about the prostate and whereabouts in the body it is located, she continued.
'Actually a lot of prostate cancers are very treatable and in some cases, don't need any treatment,' Ms Cant said.
This means that anyone who does suffer from the disease may not have to wear designer medical alert bracelets for long if they are able to receive medication for their illness quickly.
The Prostate Cancer Charity recently revealed that many people are afraid to discuss their health problems, even with a doctor, as more than one-third admitted that they have left a surgery without being completely honest with their GP.
