This is the opinion of champion swimmer and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Mark Foster, who said that he is trying to make more people aware of prostate cancer.
He pointed out that 35,000 men may have to start wearing a medical alert necklaceevery year because they have been diagnosed with the disease.
'I think we need to speak about these issues because it is something that can save your life,' he explained.
The athlete added that 'it is something that is rarely spoken about' because men assume that any health problems they have will simply go away in time.
Foster can currently been seen on the BBC 3 show Dancing on Wheels, which sees six couples compete to enter the Wheelchair Dance Sport European Championships.
